Submissions Guidelines

Onward Press is open for agent and non-agented submissions.

Our mission:  To be the publisher-of-choice for military veterans, their spouses, military brats, and other family members.  Also, people who served in other agencies overseas and their family members.

We are happy to read and evaluate your work.  It may take up to three months, so please be patient.

We ask you to follow these guidelines.

We consider books.  We are open to all genres but have particular interest in – military, veteran, military brat, government-service, both fiction and non-fiction.  Also, memoirs, biographies, true-crime, history, mystery, suspense-thrillers and literary novels.

All manuscripts must be a minimum of 80,000 words.

We do not accept poetry, screenplays or stage plays.  They will not be read.

Your submission should consist of:

A cover letter that explains who you are – veteran, spouse, brat, intelligence officer, family member, etc. – and why you wrote your book.

A brief synopsis.  No more than two double-spaced pages.

The first 30 pages.  Double-spaced.  12-point font, either New Times Roman or Courier.  Standard, one-inch margins, both sides , top and bottom.

Please do not request status updates about your submission.  We are respectful of you and your work and respond to every submission.  However, it’s not possible for us to respond with comments and/or notes to each.
